in Plattsburg, Missouri Plattsburg, Missouri is located just 45 minutes north from downtown Kansas City or 20 minutes south of St. Joseph in Northwest Missouri. Plattsburg is a beautiful country town and serves as the county seat of Clinton County. Stroll down Main Street and visit Plattsburg's many quaint antique stores as well as other specialty shops. Or just walk among the beautifully restored homes around the Pink Rosebud and down Plattsburg's Clay Avenue. Visit the local museum, go bowling, have a match of tennis, or play golf at the 18-hole course at the Plattsburg Country Club. Golf and swimming pool privileges at the Country Club are available for Pink Rosebud's registered guests. Fishing and Hunting guides are also available. Plattsburg's City Park, located just a block south of the Pink Rosebud, provides play ground equipment and a shelter area. Perkins Park, located just east of town on Highway 116, has a gazebo, t-ball, three baseball fields, three soccer fields, two tennis courts, three shelter houses, restrooms and playground equipment. Primitive hiking trails can be found, as well as primitive access to the north finger of Smithville Lake. Smithville Lake's Nature Preserve is only three miles away - walk the peaceful trails or fish from the banks. Plattsburg's public access boat ramp to Smithville Lake is merely 3 miles from the Pink Rosebud. Dedmen-Trice Memorial Woods and Nature Trail is located approximately 5 miles east of Plattsburg on 116 Hwy. This primitive hiking trail on several acres boasts one of the largest standing White Oak timbers remaining in Missouri. Nearby towns include Lathrop, once known as the "Mule Capital of the World". The Van Buren-Spaeth Library/Museum, located on North Pine Street in Lathrop, houses hundreds of articles and documents of this colorful town's past. Lathrop Antique Show Grounds features restored early century buildings, including the Walnut Grove One Room School, a depot, a 1930's gas station, and an operable steam powered sawmill. A church, log barn, and additional town buildings are planned. Lathrop Antique Show Grounds hosts two BlueGrass Festivals per year, The Living History Festival and Small Farmer's Reunion. Also nearby in Turney is the Turney Depot. Restored as it was before the railroad ceased operation in mid-60's, this depot is the result of many hours of work by volunteers who treasure the role the railroad played in Clinton County's prosperous days. St. Joseph and Kansas City offer the big-city attractions, and both are an easy drive from Plattsburg. These are just a sampling of the many attractions near the Pink Rosebud and Plattsburg.
